Today on the exhilarating journey to Manaslu, bidding farewell to the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. Our expedition sets forth as we navigate the serpentine Himalayan roads on a 10-hour bus ride, offering mesmerizing glimpses of Nepal’s countryside, meandering along rivers, villages, and through lush woodlands. The adventure unfolds on the Prithivi Highway, paving the way for an unforgettable road trip.

As our bus or jeep conquers the challenging Himalayan roads of the middle hills in Dumre, the landscape transforms, revealing the Marsyangdi Nadi valley. En route to the renowned trekking stop of Besisahar, the journey brims with anticipation. Dharapani beckons, a mere 45 km from Besisahar, accessible via a 2-3 hour ride on a rugged road that winds through Syange, Tal, and Chamje.

The day culminates in Dharapani, where the night unfolds, laying the foundation for the epic adventure that awaits. Dharapani, although not the conventional gateway to the Manaslu Region, serves as our chosen starting point for a unique journey off the beaten path. While it’s a more recognized stop for Annapurna region adventures, our quest for new routes leads us to Dharapani.

Fueling up with a hearty breakfast, our hike commences towards Tije. The journey involves a checkpoint for MCAP and ACAP cards, where our permits undergo scrutiny. After the green light, we cross a bridge over the Marsyangdi River, transitioning to a broader road rarely touched by vehicles.

Ascending through rhododendron and fir tree-lined uphill paths, we traverse for hours, taking in the serene surroundings. A gentle descent guides us through picturesque paddy fields and villages, creating a harmonious blend of nature and local life. The final stretch involves an easy uphill climb, leading us to the quaint destination of Tilije. Venturing onward, the trail becomes a storyteller, leading us to walk alongside the rhythmic cadence of the Budhi Gandaki River. The riverbed, a transient companion, reveals glimpses of its ancient journey, inviting us to trace its course as we approach Tatopani, where the whispers of hot springs beckon.
