To reach Everest Base Camp by trekking, you cannot just go, visit, and return. Going through specific processes before embarking on Everest Base Camp Trek would be best.
Among such procedures, obtaining permits is one, and it is crucial to get these because, with the licenses, you are allowed to enter through the region.
As we all know, Everest Base Camp is within the restricted area of Sagarmatha National Park, a wild and natural zone separated to preserve wildlife, flora, and fauna.

The most important and most needed licence to enter Sagarmatha National Park is the entry Permit and this is also necessary before entering Sagarmatha National Park.

Trekkers need to get at least 2 trekking permits. They are Sagarmatha National Park Fees (Nrs. 3000), and Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Fee (Nrs. 2000) . After getting these permits you can visit this beautiful place anytime.
There are various transportation alternatives to reach Everest Base Camp. You may go by plane, helicopter, jeep or bus. There are many transportation services available to go to Everest Base Camp.
Normally, the trek begins from Kathmandu to Lukla on the flight, stepping ahead on foot through the Tenzing – Hillary trails. From Kathmandu to Lukla the time duration on the plane takes 30 – 45 minutes if the weather condition is good.
Everest Base Camp on the flight is the easiest, quickest, most reliable transportation. In transportation service, the better option is Helicopter flight. Nepal doesn’t have access to road transportation services up to Everest Base Camp. Road transportation is also the better option but it might take a lot of time.
Every trekker can’t take flight due to the problem of phobia or who prefers the economical Everest Base Camp Trek. From Kathmandu, it takes around 10 – 12 hours to reach Phaplu by bus or jeep.
During dry seasons, the drive becomes easy and the bus jeep reaches Khari-Khola. Whereas, in the summer (June-Sept), rain affects the road and the vehicles are forced to park at Phaplu.
As airway tickets are so expensive for the local people, the road facility has become a boon to make their local life easy. If you want to experience the local life and enjoy long, bumpy, dirt or rough drives then Everest Base Camp Trek on a bus or jeep.
The Domestic flight flies from Kathmandu to Ramechhap. During the peak season, the airport in Kathmandu sees huge air traffic. Due to huge air traffic, the authorities transfer all the flights to Ramechhap airport.
It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach Ramechhap if the weather is in good condition.

If you have extra time there are several UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. Also, check the essential items that are required for your trek. The next day is the beginning of your 14-day trek for EBC.
Here, is the first day of your EBC. This trip is going to be very amazing for you and get more joyful in this trek. Your respected company guide will pick you up from the hotel to Tribhuvan International Airport.
After that, the company will pick up the domestic Airport for the flight to Lukla. In the case of the first flight, the hotel will provide the packed breakfast otherwise the breakfast will be at Lukla after landing.
Approximately after fly half an hour a scenic flight with sparking peaks of the Eastern Himalayas with diverse majesty landscapes. Upon our arrival, the rest of the crew members (Porters & Sherpa) were in Lukla. All our luggage will be bedded and ready to be carried.
There is also opt for a Helicopter Flight directly from Kathmandu to Lukla which will cost an additional charge than domestic flights. There won’t be any fixed time in the trekking season because the flights will have high traffic.
The next route is connected to the Namche Bazaar trail, just above the Chaurikharka. After the walk of hours, several ups and downs you cross the small village of Ghat. Finally arrived at Phakding.
After having some breakfast. This activity continues for an entire trip to avoid muscle cramps and tiredness. Every day, we will start our trek after breakfast. We should climb around 800 m and should walk 11 km from Phakding to Namche bazaar (3440 m).
Your trek connects with different trails alongside the Dudh Koshi River, Monjo, Jorsale and Namche Bazar, crossing a couple of suspension bridges.
After hiking for a while there will be a check for the entry permit verification at Sagarmatha National Park in the Everest region.
After 20 min of checking you get to Jorsalle, where you can take a rest and lunch. Another again crosses over the bridge and makes a steep ascend to be greeted by the first glimpse of Mount Everest.
After that, you will reach the largest in the Everest region, Namche Bazaar. After hours of hiking, you must be tired, you must take some rest and if you have energy you can roam a beautiful Sherpa town which is a hub for the Khumbu region and trekker’s shop.
This is the fourth day of starting the treks, you need to adapt to the high-altitude environment so you need to take a rest. You have to jump to the 3,000-meter significant elevation.
On this rest day, you have the opportunity to explore the local people and their culture and you should visit the monasteries there are stunning and amazing views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
You can also enjoy the snowy view of Kwangde Thamserku and Kangteja. There is a trading hub in the Khumbu region which is popular destinations like Hilary School, Sagarmatha National Park Museum, Sherpa Museum, the world’s Highest Irish Pub, and the Khumjung Monastery.
You can also have experience about the Sherpa culture and their lifestyles. Then you can enjoy the beautiful town as well as take some rest and prepare for the next day.
We will be walking uphill, downhill, and gently flat in the ridge line today. After a brief uphill walk, we will walk on the gentle flat trail on the ridge line up to Kyangjuma. The trail is easy to walk and well-paved. The scenery of Dudhkoshi Valley, Amadablam, Tengboche Hill, and Everest look spectacular. We take our lunch at Phungi Thanga which is on the bank of the river.
You can explore after reaching there. The mountains like Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Lhotse, and Nuptse can be seen clearly from the place, Tengboche. En route, you can explore the Everest View Hotel again distantly.
Then you will pass the Sherpa villages like Kyanjima, Chipcho, and Trashing villages. Then, you will have a lunch break at Phongi Thanga village. The view of Everest, Amadablam, Khangtenga, Thamserku, Tauche, and Pangboche Valley is splendid from here. Overnight at a beautiful teahouse
Today’s trail is short passing through a lush green forest with beautiful scenes of Rhododendron forest. It takes 5 to 6 hours to reach Dingboche.
You will be crossing the suspension bridges from where you can see the view of the snowy mountains including Ama Dablam can be seen.
You should walk alongside the Imja Khola, Dingboche Pheriche and Pangboche. The best thing is the sunrise which you can see from the Tengboche monastery which is stunning.
There you need to cross another bridge and trek through small settlements like Shoamare (4,010 m ) and Orsho (4190 m). Walking along Imja Khola you ascend to Dingboche village.
This is another day for acclimatization. So, you have a delicious breakfast in front of the Himalayan giants in a very relaxed way compared to other days. You spend the whole day visiting the surroundings. You may also go for a short climb to the nearest viewpoint, known as Nakarsank.
From Nakarsank, you can explore numerous Himalayan views including Lobuche Peak. On our northwest, we see more Himalayan peaks rising above the Khumbu Khola Valley. Among those peaks, Lobuche West, Lobuche East and Lhotse are the most dominant.
From another location on the ridge, we can also admire the picturesque Imja Khola Valley and the beautiful Dingboche village. Overnight at Dingboche.
You had acclimatization and rest day and today you have a small hike to complete so ready to push further today. The main path in the wide valley is under the Cholatse and Tawache peaks.
The terrain will get much icy and the settlements are few and far between. The trail is steep and the trail consists of numerous huge rocks and mountain yaks passing nearby at a high altitude.
We can also see many memorials made in memory of climbers with praying flags and stones who passed away on the way to Mt. Everest Then we reach the trail joining from Gokyo Lakes and Cho-La Pass.
Walking through the mountain land, we can easily get tired on the normal walk towards Lobuche. Finally, your today’s journey ends at Lobuche.
Today’s trek is the most exciting and longest day compared to other routes. Firstly, you need more power today so eat as much as you can because today is going to be the longest day,
The trail is quite wide and easy to walk where you can witness the majestic mountains beyond the eyes. After walking for about 2 hours, we will the base camp.
The base camp is surrounded by legendary peaks, massive glaciers and the Khumbu Glacier. Create a memory of the base camp of the world’s tallest mountain.
In the main season, you may meet with the many mountaineers who aim to climb Mount Everest and other surrounding mountains along the way.
The trail will be rocky and filled with loose boulders, therefore walk carefully. You will trek back to Gorak Shep to spend the night after exploring EBC.
Next day, next routes. After leaving Lobuche eating some breakfast. The hike will start at Kalapathar viewpoint(5545 m).
The Kalapathar vantage point is the best place to relish the view of Everest and the panoramic Khumbu Himalayas. You will reach the lap of Pumori mountain and will be surrounded by the majesty mountain.
You can enjoy excellent views of Everest and numerous other snow-capped mountains with a gorgeous sunrise. Later, you will descend to Pheriche here going through remote settlement areas and lush forests.
Then trek down to Gorakshep and have breakfast. Then we descend to Pheriche to spend our night.
The next day starts for the next trek to Pheriche and back to Namche Bazaar, so after having breakfast, the trails start from an easy downhill to Pangboche village.
After walking for a couple of hours, you reach the Imja Khola River you can stop there for lunch at Tengboche. You will get the opportunity to get another look at the town’s beautiful monastery.
After a complete yet rewardful trekking journey, we will now go down similar paths through the dense forest of conifers, and rhododendrons passing the villages of Dingboche, and Tengboche to reach Namche once again.
We will have one more opportunity to spend the night with the delightful company of the hospitable Sherpa people of Namche.
Today is the last day of trekking in the mountain range. After having a warm breakfast in Namche. Your trails will begin descending along the steep forested path.
The route goes through the dense forests and crosses many bridges over the Dukha Koshi River. In that route, you can find the different types of rhododendrons and pine forests and you can have an experience of Sherpa’s culture and lifestyle.
You will pass by small mountain villages like Jorsale and Monjo before reaching Phakding. From here, the route ascends to Lukla alongside the Dudh Koshi River.
Walking through a similar path yet again, recalling the wonderful moments of our expedition and recapping those moments on that trail. After that, there won’t be any time after reaching Lukla,
Unloading our backpacks in the lodge, we will explore the village and buy some souvenirs for the remembrance of this remarkable trek.
After breakfast in Lukla, the guides will take care of the airport ticket and everything, apart from this the luggage will be taken to the airport by porters.
Then after travel to Kathmandu by air (30 minutes) and night at the Hotel. Within 30 minutes, we will be again in the heart of this chaotic city.
After lunch, there are many places to explore like; Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Baudhanath Stupa. Then you would have a farewell dinner organized by Life Himalaya Trekking with a Nepali Culture Dance.
For beginners there are few tips to follow while doing Everest Base Camp Trek. Some of them are described below:
It is said that difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, this can be sad for this trek too. The journey leads a person to reach a calming state of mind, yet there are various obstacles present before reaching the destination.

To do trek or hiking in EBC the two seasons are considered the best seasons; Spring and Autumn. Spring and autumn are recommended seasons to trek to Everest Base Camp for beginners as mild temperatures and clean weather help you adapt to the high altitude area.
In this season the temperature is 10-20 degrees C in the daytime at the lower altitudes. Accordingly, the temperature at night is -10 to -5 degrees C. Mainly rainfall and snowfall may occur at night in early spring and temperatures fall at night. Which wouldn’t be any problem while doing the trek.
During the spring season, the Himalayan region is blooming with life, the trails will be decorated with beautiful seasonal flowers, rhododendrons, in particular, fill the lower trails with their alluring beauty.
In this Spring season, the best thing is that you can view the endangered species of flora and fauna in the trail of EBC. Although the occasional snowfall during spring can make night cold, the weather is normally stable warm, and clear.

The latter month of the season may start seeing light rainfall at the end of November so special preparation is required if you are travelling close to the winter.
Normally, the temperature is stable and stays around 14°C on average during autumn, the chillier nights can drop up to -10°C. It is also possible for Everest Base Camp to trek during the off-seasons like monsoon.
Preparing physically for the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek for beginners is crucial to ensure you can handle the demands of the journey. Here’s a detailed plan:
Cardiovascular fitness is vital for the sustained effort required during the trek, as it improves your body’s efficiency in using oxygen, which is critical at high altitudes.
1. Running: Aim for 30-60 minutes of running, 3-4 times a week. Incorporate both steady-state runs and interval training. Gradually increase your distance and try to include some uphill running.
2. Swimming: Swim laps for at least 30 minutes, 2-3 times a week. Swimming is an excellent full-body workout and helps build lung capacity.
3. Cycling: Cycle for 1-2 hours, 2-3 times a week. Include varied terrains and some uphill cycling to mimic the trekking conditions.
Strength training will help you carry your backpack and handle the physical strain of long trekking days.
1.Legs:
– Squats: Perform 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions. Use weights to increase resistance as you progress.
– Lunges: 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions on each leg. Include variations like walking lunges and side lunges.
– Step-ups: Use a bench or step, 3 sets of 15 repetitions on each leg. This simulates the constant step-up motion of trekking.
– Calf Raises: 3 sets of 20 repetitions to build endurance in your calves.
2. Core:
– Planks: Hold for 1-2 minutes, 3 sets. Include variations like side planks.
– Russian Twists: 3 sets of 20 twists to strengthen obliques.
– Leg Raises: 3 sets of 15 repetitions to target lower abs.
– Bicycle Crunches: 3 sets of 20 repetitions.
3. Back:
– Deadlifts: 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions. Use proper form to avoid injury.
– Pull-ups: 3 sets of as many repetitions as possible (use assisted pull-ups if necessary).
– Rows: 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions, using either a barbell, dumbbells, or a rowing machine.
1. Hiking: Incorporate regular hikes on varied terrain with a loaded backpack to simulate trekking conditions. Start with lighter loads and gradually increase the weight.
2. Stair Climbing: Climb stairs with a weighted backpack. Aim for 15-30 minutes of continuous stair climbing.
3. Flexibility and Balance: Include yoga or stretching sessions to improve flexibility and balance, which helps prevent injuries.
Monday:
– Morning: Running (intervals), 45 minutes
– Evening: Strength training (legs and core)
Tuesday:

Altitude Sickness is a word that explains itself. It is a type of sickness that you are likely to suffer as you go to higher altitudes. You have to know and prepare for this if you are looking to come to trek Nepal, especially at Everest Base Camp.
