Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary  For Beginners

Day 1: Arrival  in Kathmandu, Nepal

First day in Nepal, after landing at the airport your company team will be there to pick you up and where you have some fresh breakfast some of the companies do a welcome program too.

After that, they will provide a pre-brief about your upcoming trek and guide you through any necessary formalities. Following the meetings and formalities, you can unwind with a relaxing dinner and take the opportunity to rest.

Explore the different places around Thamel and be prepared for your trek. In Thamel, you can taste different Nepali local food. There are different kinds of shops where you can buy essential items for your trek.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Maccha Khola 

  • Distance: 146 km

Your trek for Manaslu starts from here. You will be driven from the bus park or your company’s suggested bus park. Mainly you can catch a local bus to Maccha Khola. 

From Kathmandu to Soti Khola you will be passing through beautiful landscapes and old and traditional villages. Alongside you can enjoy the views of the Trishuli River, which makes you feel refreshed.

The road conditions might be challenging with bumpy roads. Nowadays the road is quite good and in some places is under construction. Then, spend your night at Maccha Khola. 

Day 3: Machha Khola to Jagat

You can start your trek by having some breakfast in Machha Khola. Today your route will be walking through the Budhi Gandaki River to Khorlabesi to Tatopani to Dobhan at the end of Jagat, ‘final destinations.

Travelling from  Machha Khola to Jagat is also an interesting drive where you can see a beautiful village made with unique stone. You are driven through the forests at Budhi Gandaki River, where you can see a mountain. 

After 5 to 6 hours of riding with the amazing route that runs through mountains, hills, and rivers and reaches Jagat, then you will be at a tea house or guesthouse in Jagat.

Day 4: Jagat to Deng ( Dyang)

Time to leave Jagat, there will be an easy trail. Today is day 4 of the Manaslu Circuit trek. In this route, you can find one substantial bridge on the Budhi Gandaki River. 

After crossing the bridge you may visit the Gurung settlement of Philim which is influenced by Buddhists. You can explore the beautiful village, rest and take some lunch.

It is mostly farmlands where you can find the huge bamboo forests. It is also known as a wildlife-rich area. You can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

Pass through Philim and Ekle Bhatti before reaching the village of Deng which is today’s last destination. You will spend the night at hotels in Deng.

Day 5: Deng to Namrung 

  • Distance: almost 20 km 
  • Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours

After leaving Deng, the next destination will be Deng to Namrung. Firstly you will pass through Budhi Gandaki River and proceed past the village of Deng.

This is quite a challenging trek, where you need to pass through the Ghap and Lihi villages before reaching Namrung. In this way, you should travel through the woods and Mani rocks.

To reach Namrung you need to drive through Prok village which is 2347 m, Singri Himal which is about 7161 m and Ganesh Himal ( 7429 m ) which has stunning views. Finally, after reaching your destinations you spend that evening at a Namrung Tea house.

Day 6: Namrung to Lho Gaon 

  • Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours 
  • Distance: almost 11 km 
  • Highest Altitude: 3100 m

The first 2 hours of the trek is a full flat path. There are suspension bridges and mountain views of peaks such as Niki Peak on the right and Lamjung Himal on the left.

In another 2 hours, you get to the beautiful Loo. Here you start the see the beautiful Manaslu I and Himchuli. At Loo, you can see 50 to 60 beautiful villages, 8/10 hotels, and some Monasteries.

You can see Mount Manaslu and the Lho settlement if the sky is clear. Lho Gaon is known for its ancient monasteries. You are staying at a hotel in Lho Gaun.

Day 7: Lho Gaun to Samagaon 

  • Trek Distance: 8.2 km 
  • Duration: 5 to 6 hours
  • Highest Altitude: 3500 meters

To continue our journey, we need to cross the ridge out of the valley to the BudhiGandaki side and navigate the rocky moraine. We climb steadily, passing through forests.

The trail drops and crosses the side valley of Simnang Himal with Ganesh Himal always close by. We further pass through the Sho, Lho, and Shyala villages before reaching Sama Village.

We can enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Manaslu from Lho village and also explore the very popular Ribung Gompa.
Shyala village will be surrounded by high mountains like Himal Chuli and Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli) to the left and other snow summits to the right, and at the far end stands Ganesh Himal. You will have a wonderful night at Samagaon.

Day 8: Refreshment and rest Day at Sama Gaon

This is the refreshment and rest day. It is a very beautiful day, as Sama Gaou is one of the most beautiful villages. There are different options and several places to explore.

There is also the best viewpoint for the amazing landscape and surroundings from old Pungyen Gompa. You can tour the Pungyen Gompa which takes 6 hours. Another one is Birendra Tal which takes only 2 hours and the trek to Manaslu base camp takes 8 hours. 

You can interact with the locals and share their culture. We return to Samagaon at dusk to spend the night at the same guesthouse.

Day 9:  Sama Gaon to Sambo

  • Trek Distance: 17 km
  • Duration: 3 to 5 hours  
  • Accommodation: Tea house
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Highest Altitude: 3875 meters 

The trekking starts and towards Samdo. In this route, there is a marvel at the panoramic views of the Himalayas and explore the village’s unique culture and traditions.

Embarking on the trek to Samdo village is another delightful day on a well-mentioned and specific path. There is also an eye-catching view of the Manaslu ranges, Buddha Himals, and Shringi Himal. 

We continue and climb to Samdo, which is only 4 kilometres away from the Tibetan borderline. The route goes to Larkya La followed by Budhi Gandaki River and crosses a bridge. You spend the night in a tea house in Samdo.

Day 10: Sambo to Dharamsala  

  • Distance: 13 km 
  • Duration: 8 to 9 hours 
  • Accommodation: Tea house
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Highest Altitude: 4450 meters

You can continue your trek, crossing the Larkya Glacier and ascending to Dharamsala, also known as Larkhya Phedi. Dharamsala serves as the base camp for crossing the Larkya La Pass.

 On the route, you have a jaw-dropping peak of the Larkya glacier. You should go around the valley of the Salka Khola and climb up again to the Dharmasala. 

Along the way, passing Larke Bazaar, a “fair seasonal Tibetan market,” is another interesting place to explore. We spent the night at Dharamshala at a tea house.

Day 11: Dharamsala to Bhimtang 

  • Distance: 25 km 
  • Duration: 8 to 9  hours 
  • Accommodation: Tea house
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Highest altitude: 4450 meters

Embark on an early morning ascent to the Larkya La Pass, Which offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and makes you refreshed. You have to go through Larkya Pass, with the gentle path, and enjoy the big significant old mani stone wall and Chorten.

There is a stunning peek of the Larkya glacier on the route.  we go around the valley of the Salka Khola and climb up again to the Dharmasala.  Ahead, walk through a grassy moraine and a big Mani stone that leads to a large meadow. Finally, you will be in Bimtang where you can have a big night after a successful pass.

We return to Bhimphedi (3,590 m) for walking for almost three hours with some spectacular scenery of icefalls and mountains. You will be staying the night at Bhimphedi.

Day 12: Bhimtang to Tilje

Today you need to trek through rhododendron forests and picturesque villages like Gho and Tilije which is very amazing. You can enjoy the views of Himlung Himal and pass through a stone arch before reaching Tilije.

On this route, you should walk through a downhill via a lush green forest this is easy and short walking until  Tilje stops for lunch and continues to Dharapani. Dharapani is the world-famous Annapurna Circuit trek (Larke pass) starting point as well.

There are few hotels and tea houses so you need to spend a night at Tilije at the tea house.

Day 13: Tilije to Dharapani and back to Kathmandu

We board a vehicle from Dharapani and are dropped off at Besisahar. This is the last to say bye to the Manaslu circuit trek. There are different transportation at Besisahar to return to Kathmandu. After arriving at the bus park your company will take you to a hotel for a farewell dinner.

*Spring Season
